The USAAC and the AJSF have been working over the past 4 months to come up with an official scoring system. On January 1st, 2010 the official scoring system was approved by both the USAAC and the AJSF.

 
     
   Solo Division Scoring  
     
 

Grade of Execution (GoE): Skaters are judged on the following:

 

      I.        Ability to correctly execute moves. (Skaters my attempt difficult moves to earn more points, however, up attempt, if the skater does not successfully complete the move they will be docked GoE points.)

    II.        Ability to be in sync with their musical selection

   III.        Basic Skills

  IV.        Successful completion of Jam Skate moves

 

Each skater will start with a total of 70 points for Grade of Execution.

 
     
 

Degree of Difficulty (DoD: Skaters are judged on the following:

 

      I.        Difficulty of Tricks

    II.        Spins

   III.        Footwork

  IV.        Jumps

   V.        Combinations

  VI.        Multi-Directional Skating

 VII.        Transitional Moves

 

Each skater will start with a total of 10 points for Degree of Difficulty.

 
     
 

Program Components (PC): Skaters are judged on the following:

 

      I.        Transitions Liking Footwork

    II.        Choreography

   III.        Performance

  IV.        Balance

   V.        Originality

 

Each skater will start with a total of 10 points for Program Components.

 
     
 

Skaters Performance (P): Skaters are judged on the following:

 

      I.        Physical Involvement

    II.        Emotional Involvement

   III.        Carriage

  IV.        Clarity of Movement

 

Each skater will start with a total of 10 points for Skaters Performance.

 
     
   Doubles & Team Division Scoring

      I.        Synchronization with team member(s)

    II.        Synchronization with music

   The Short & Long Skate  
     
 

Skaters will skate in two events at a Regional or National Championship. These consist of a Short Skate and a Free Skate.

 
     
   THE SHORT SKATE  
     
 

The short skate shall be no longer then 6 minutes and no shorter then 3 minutes. The short skate will incorporate basic Jam Skate skills and moves associated with each skaters division. Elite skaters will be required to perform more difficult moves then someone in a Novice or Amateur division. The short skate will count as half of the skaters overall placement score.

 
     
   THE LONG SKATE  
     
 

The long skate shall be no longer then 10 minutes and no shorter then 5 minutes. The long skate is considered a free skate.  This is were skaters can show judges advanced techniques, showmanship, creativity, etc. Skaters are allowed to produce any moves (as long as they are done safely).

 
     
     
   AJSF Qualification for State, Regional & National Championships  
     
   AJSF STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS  
 

 

 
 

Official AJSF State Championships are open to any member of the AJSF in their state of residence, unless their resident state has no State AJSF Club. (i.e.: Jane lives in New York, but has no AJSF State Club in NY, Jane can submit a request to the AJSF and a surrounding state's AJSF Club for permission to compete in their state tournament. The top 10 skaters in each division of each state qualifies to compete in the AJSF Regional Championships.

 
     
   AJSF REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS  
     
 

The AJSF Regional Championships are open to skaters who have qualified for Regional Competition. If you have qualified for this competition, your regions manager will contact your affiliated State Club to inform them.

 
     
   AJSF NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS  
     
 

The AJSF National Championships are open to those who have placed in the top 25 of their division at a Regional Championship.
